How to play Ninefold

Rules

Fill every cell with a number. Each row, column and box holds every number once.
Tap an empty cell, then a number on the pad. Here the column already has 1, 2 and 3, so the cell must be 4.
Pencil jots small notes. Use it to keep track of what a cell could still be.
A wrong number costs a life. You have three. Every puzzle can be solved by reasoning; no guessing needed.

Controls

Tap a cell, then a number. Pencil switches to notes, Erase clears notes. On a keyboard: arrows, numbers, P for pencil.

Later on

Diagonal boards (from level 10): both long diagonals also need every number once.
Shaded cells (from level 18) must hold an even number.

Stars: three with no slips and no hints, two with one, one otherwise. Hint fills in the next number and explains why. The Daily Puzzle on the title screen is a new 9 x 9 board every day.
